Forbes recently released the list of the highest paid athletes in the world. The income of players comes from a wide spectrum and is not just limited to what they make from playing their sport. Here are the top paid players of major US sports.

  1. Floyd Mayweather, boxing 

Mayweather occupies the top rank for being the highest-paid athlete. He took 36 minutes in the ring to defeat his opponent Conor McGregor. He earned $275 million just for doing this. This fight starred the biggest boxing stars and generated $550 million in revenue from all sources. This fight pushed his earnings to $1billion. He is the only athlete after Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan to enter the 10-figure league in terms of earnings. Mayweather has amassed a lot of earnings with his endorsement deals with Tequila Avion and Hublot.


  1. LeBron James, basketball player, NBA

LeBron is the youngest player to reach 30,000 career points and has made it to the finals eight straight years. He has one of the most impressive endorsement portfolios with Nike, Beats by Dre, Coca-Cola, Kia Motor, Nike, Blaze Pizza and Intel. His investment group owns 17 of the fast growing franchises. He owns a product company as well as a media company. He owns a 2 percent stake in Liverpool which he acquired because of his partnership with Fenway Sports Group.


  1. Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry’s salary has almost tripled in the past three years. The two-time MVP signed a $200 million contract the previous summer. This five-year deal assures $201 million from the Warriors. He endorses Chase, Nissan Infiniti, JBL, Brita and Vivo brands. He has believed to made $42 million from his endorsements. Sony Pictures recently made an announcement about a multi-year production and development deal with the player this year. This production company along with Curry’s Unanimous Media and partners will develop and produce television and film projects which focus on faith, family as well as sports.

Durant recently signed a discounted two-year contract which is $10 million less than the maximum salary he could have claimed from the Warriors. Durant is willing to make such concessions considering the fact that he makes over $30 million from his off-court earnings. He has endorsement deals with Panini, Alaska Airlines, American Family Insurance, Beats and Nike. He partnered with Rich Kleiman during 2016 to find the Durant Company. This company has over 30 investments in micro-investing app, media and development firms.


  1. Russell Westbrook

Westbrook is being paid monster numbers soon after his team mate Kevin Durant joined the Warriors in the year 2016. He is the only second NBA plater to average double-digit points, assists and rebound after Oscar Robertson. During summer 2016, he renegotiated his contract with the Thunder. This added $9 million to his salary. He also grabbed a deal worth $85.6million. His off-court earnings also received a massive boost the previous year with his 10 year contract extension with Nike’s Jordan brand.
